Lucaz Design operates through a hybrid production model — artisanally rooted, yet structured for consistency, scalability, and international technical compliance. Every product, whether lighting, furniture, or object, is developed to meet rigorous standards of design resolution, material integrity, and global usability.

Lucaz Design functions as a design house rather than a studio producing isolated pieces. Its focus is the development of precise production systems that support beauty, functionality, and international distribution without compromising judgement or material standards.

Production Strategy

TECHNICAL FRAMEWORK

Lucaz Design begins with lighting — the natural foundation of its production world. It is the typology where proportion, material, and atmosphere converge with the highest level of technical precision.

The initial lighting series will span table, floor, wall, ceiling, and architectural applications, all developed from a shared design vocabulary while remaining distinct in scale, presence, and detail.

Several designs are conceived as modular systems, allowing variations in proportion, form, and finish to evolve within a consistent architectural language. This ensures coherence across typologies while enabling tonal and material differentiation.

This framework establishes a recognisable design identity that can later extend into furniture and objects without loss of clarity or focus. Lighting also defines the studio’s initial commercial strategy, with a primary emphasis on B2B partnerships — architects, interior designers, and hospitality developers — ensuring professional integration within architectural environments.

All products are developed with the following principles embedded from the outset:

– Material integrity as a constant
– International certification (CE, UKCA, UL) integrated at the design stage
– Compatibility with architectural systems, including DALI lighting control, modularity, and customisation for built-in elements

These requirements are integral from first sketch through final prototyping, not applied retroactively.

CORE STRUCTURE & TEAMING

To support excellence with control, Lucaz Design is assembling a focused production structure.

In the early phase, a specialist production setup consultant with experience across lighting and furniture manufacturing will vet suppliers and engineer initial prototypes. This will be followed by the appointment of an in-house production manager, responsible for daily operations, consistency, and quality control as the system develops.

This structure allows the studio to remain design-led while maintaining operational discipline.

KEY PRODUCTION LOCATIONS

Lucaz Design collaborates with selected workshops and artisans across Europe, chosen for material expertise, reliability, and technical capability:

– Portugal — furniture, upholstery, and woodwork
– France — decorative metalwork, stone, and object finishing
– Belgium — lighting production and small-batch technical assembly
– Poland — mouth-blown glass and lighting components
– United Kingdom — prototyping, final quality control, and specialised metal and glass finishing
– Northern Italy — hand-blown glass and stone casting for lighting and furniture elements

Each piece is made to order, allowing variation in materials and finishes without compromising structure, lead time, or consistency. Glass, stone, and metal components are produced by specialists to ensure clarity of form and tactile precision across typologies.

SCALABILITY WITH INTEGRITY

The objective is not indiscriminate volume, but sustained expansion built on durability, coherence, and technical discipline.

Production scales modularly — building around proven typologies, established partners, and predictable engineering processes. Capacity increases through system refinement rather than acceleration alone.

Lucaz Design is structured to grow into a substantial European design house, expanding output and international reach without relinquishing authorship, proportion, or material standards.

The studio is currently in the specification and prototyping phase. Material testing, compliance engineering, and workshop onboarding are being developed in parallel to establish a production system that is robust, flexible, and prepared for long-term growth.

Controlled. Scalable. Real.
